Name: Redemption

Description:

This year’s sculpture presents an image of teamwork overcoming obstacles to achieve a goal: movement and action. Following “The Asset” theme from last year, his partners are there to the rescue. From a structural standpoint, this year’s sculpture will be tall and forward; oriented to the viewer as if in a 3D drive-in movie.

Team Bio:

Pig's Eye Pirates: Sheldon Moe (St. Paul), Jason Moe (Minneapolis), and Kevin Wynn (Minneapolis) This is the Pig’s Eye Pirates’ second year sculpting. Last year, they gained national attention with their rendition of Baby Yoda, “The Asset,” which won People’s Choice Award and was featured on Fox 9 news, Time Magazine, and the Tonight Show. Each member of the team had no prior experience in a snow carving competition which made the attention both surprising and fun. Jason Moe has been making minor snow creations from snow forts, snow men and other characters with his kids for the last 16 years. His formal training is in product design and imagining and creating things in 3D space comes naturally. Jason’s other creative hobbies include blacksmithing, 3D printing, and making custom racing drones. Shelden Moe might struggle a bit in the artistic category but can work wonders using hand tools to create smooth, straight, and curved lines in the snow. With a background in construction, he’s not afraid to jump right in and start working up a sweat. Kevin Wynn lives in Northeast Minneapolis and works as a real estate appraiser for Hennepin County. He’s a huge Star Wars Universe fan and is currently watching Clone Wars.

Fun Fact:

Last year (our first year) we won the People’s Choice Award, our sculpture photo was used in a Time Magazine online article and also on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon!
