Name: New Beginnings

Description:

This sculpture shows metamorphosis of a Monarch Butterfly from egg to larva to pupa to adult. The life cycle begins in helpless vulnerability but matures through 5 increasingly larger stages of insatiable appetite, only to enter a mysterious period of quiet waiting. Though appearing dormant and even lifeless, the end result is a miraculous transformation into a beautiful, elegant adult butterfly. It is hard not to be inspired by this fragile little creature's life cycle and redemptive waiting, even as we too must wait patiently to emerge from our own dormancy and quarantine to the promise of a new beginning.
